Overview
Hi Right Now is a community building platform that allows it's users to connect through a series of quick 1 on 1 video chats.
We redesigned our entire B2B website to emphasize our messaging and branding. We collaborated with the founders and marketing team to ensure we properly represented the businesses goals.

the challenge
Identity is everything to a company. With so many digital platforms to choose from, we need to find a way to tell our unique story and connect with our users.
How might we provide an engaging brand and identity that connects with our users?
our process
This is a work in progress. We began by analyzing the existing website and defining the information architecture. We prioritized what a new start up would need - clear messaging and credibility. We began sketching how we would tell our story. Being a small team, the story of our product and our team was something we wanted to emphasize. We collaborated closely with our marketing team and our founders.
Half way though the design, it was decided that we should push out the updated website as soon as possible. The messaging was already much clearer than the original website and the design was much more interactive. Our next step would be to conduct usability testing.
the outcome
We rebuilt the entire website! We decided to enhance our storytelling with animations and videos. After all, we are a video chatting platform. The entire team agreed that our branding should be a fun and down-to-earth. Our hero features a scrollable animation that explains why this product exists. We use a video and some animations to show how the product works. The story of the team and our testimonials can be accessed from the header.
personal takeaways
I learned a lot about branding and creating animations. I took this as an opportunity to better understand how to use Principle, an app built for prototyping micro-interactions. The site features some of the first animations that I've worked on. It was also interesting to design a website that moves and changes as you scroll.
Evaluate
existing design
We conducted an analysis of the existing website. We wanted to document what was working well and what wasn't. Generally, the website was very plain; it worked, but not particularly well.
Design
information architecture
Before we began sketching, we sat down and figured out how the website should be laid out. What was the story of our landing page? What should be highlighted in the header?
Ultimately, we re-arranged everything in the last couple of days, but it was important to understand our overall reasoning.
branding
We needed to figure out a way to stand out among our competition. We wanted our branding to be a fun and welcoming. After a few iterations, we decided to add pops of color and subtle patterns throughout our website. We also added animations to aid our storytelling; people often don't like to read blocks of text.
What's next?
moving forward..
We would like to conduct usability testing on our site. We've received some feedback and a lot of excitement about the redesign, but feedback in a test environment would be ideal. The website was rushed to launch before we could to test it.
